Everest-Trekking

March, 27th, to April, 12th

Day 3 - 29.3. - To Namche Bazar
After leaving Monjo (2800 m) you ascent gently for some time. After crossing the Hillary bridge the ascent to Namche (3450 m) starts. Except for a lot of dust and other trekkers you encounter the first highlight - the first view of Everest! It's still far away but the closer you get the less often you can see it, the other mountains block the view.

Trail from Monjo to Namche

Namche used to be *the* market place for the Solukumbu mountain region. Porters and traders from e.g. Tibet take a seven to eight day hike to sell their goods. Today it is more a big shopping mall for the tourists. But still the people from Tibet come to sell their goods - today as smugglers of fake outdoor equipment from China. This is not the last place to find good food but it has the highest density of restaurants, bakeries, cafes and internet access to choose from.

For better acclimatisation we climbed a little higer to get an bird's eye view of Namche. The local air field is located there. It's the last spot at which a plane can land. If you want to go further you'll have to charter a helicopter. As well you find the usual holy places.
